March 27th, 2010

After spending some time at the library, we decided to camp for a few days at Lake Mead National Recreation Area.  Lake Mead was a potential venue for our wedding so we were curious to see if we made the right choice in choosing Joshua Tree NP over Lake Mead.
A UFC match between Canadian champion GSP and Dan Hardy was going to take place tonight and we didn’t want to miss it.  Too bad they were fighting in New Jersey and not in Las Vegas; it would’ve been neat to have attended the weigh-ins prior to the fight.  After extensive research on the internet, a place called The Lift Bar was airing it for free.  We made a side trip to Cycle Gear to pick up a few oil filters and a set of 8.5” tire irons before heading to The Lift Bar to watch the fights later that evening.
GSP dominated all five rounds and retained his welterweight championship belt!  We took to the streets of Las Vegas to celebrate!

A last minute decision prompted us to pull an all-nighter and go on an extensive walk around town.  Once again, we parked the bikes on the top floor of the Bellagio parking lot, covered the bikes, and started our tour.  It was about 12:30 in the morning.

Something tells me we're not in Kansas anymore.
The streets were packed.  People who had too much to drink were nabbed by the police.

Taking a break and letting my feet air out.  I think it's time we lighten the load and change into our running shoes.  I'm tired of people giving us odd glances.

The Flamingo; the oldest casino still in operation on the Strip, can be traced back to its mobster roots involving "Bugsy" Siegel.
A neat way to hide your alcohol; waiting in line at McDonald's.
A super-sized meal would've been nice.  Feeling a bit sleepy at this point.
Las Vegas is notorious for people on the streets handing out advertising cards.  They flick the card which makes a loud clicking sound to get your attention.

Mission accomplished!

Nightlife on the Strip.

I’ll sleep when I’m dead.
